Senior Associate

Illia Ivanusa is a Senior Associate in AVELLUM’s Dispute Resolution practice. He advises and represents clients in complex disputes, specializing in international commercial and investment arbitration.

Illia regularly advises and represents both international and Ukrainian clients in arbitrations under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), UNCITRAL, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), and the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICAC at the UCCI). His experience also includes representing clients in commodity arbitrations, such as GAFTA and FOSFA, as well as pre-arbitration dispute resolution settlement related to the supply of various goods.

Additionally, Illia has advised numerous clients on the recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitral awards in Ukraine.

      Advised an Australia-based graphite producer and gold exploration company in relation to potential LCIA arbitration over alleged breach of the SPA

      Represented major Ukrainian commodity trader in string of GAFTA arbitrations arising from series of defaults and possible insolvency of the counterparty

      Represented the client in a large multijurisdictional shareholders’ dispute with parallel court proceedings in France, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Belize, the UK, Cyprus, and Ukraine

      Represented the client in an LCIA arbitration arising out of a failed joint venture and advised the client in Cyprus proceedings concerning interim measures ordered in support of LCIA arbitration and Ukrainian proceedings concerning the injunctive measures ordered in support of LCIA arbitration proceedings
