Kim & Chang, South Korea’s largest and most specialised law firm, in collaboration with AVELLUM, hosted a groundbreaking seminar in Seoul, focusing on the reconstruction efforts in Ukraine. The event aimed to facilitate discussions and provide insights for local businesses interested in investing in and contributing to the rebuilding of Ukraine.
The seminar saw unprecedented success, with over 100 participants from various industries, reflecting the significant interest of Korean companies in supporting Ukraine’s reconstruction.
Maksym Maksymenko, Partner and Head of Real Estate and Infrastructure at AVELLUM, played a crucial role in the seminar. Invited by Kim & Chang, Maksym delivered comprehensive information on the critical aspects of Ukrainian rebuilding processes and highlighted promising opportunities in Ukrainian infrastructure. He also emphasised the various options for engagement in reconstruction and conducted a thorough Q&A session, drawing immense interest from representatives of Korea’s largest companies.
Glib Bondar, Senior Partner and Head of Finance, and Yuriy Nechayev, Partner at Corporate/M&A practice at AVELLUM, contributed online by providing professional perspectives on financial and corporate regulations relevant to Korean businesses entering Ukraine, including financing reconstruction options.
Ukrainian officials shared their insights on the country’s opportunities and extended invitations to foreign investors. Anna Yurchenko, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories, and Infrastructure Development for European Integration, and Maya Yankovska, the Head of the Prosteer project office of the Ministry of Recovery, provided a comprehensive general overview of the reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.
Sebastian Lawson, a global transactions partner with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, contributed valuable insights on financial matters related to investing and doing business in Ukraine.
Special thanks were extended to Chong Ghee Ahn, Senior Advisor of Kim & Chang, for his opening remarks emphasising the vast perspectives of Korean-Ukrainian cooperation in the rebuilding processes.
