AVELLUM advises Ministry of Finance of Ukraine on CAD400 Million sovereign loan from Canada

AVELLUM acted as the Ukrainian legal counsel to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine in connection with a CAD400 million concessional loan from Canada. This loan, with a repayment period of 10 years and an interest rate of 1.5% per annum, will support Ukraine in its current economic challenges. The loan, channelled through the International Monetary Fund’s Administered Account, will be used to finance Ukraine’s priority state budget expenditures.

With this latest loan, Canada’s total direct financial support to Ukraine since February 2022 has now reached more than USD5 billion. Throughout this period, AVELLUM has consistently advised the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine on all financing arrangements related to Canada’s support.

AVELLUM team was led by senior partner Glib Bondar with support from managing associate Mariana Veremchuk, and associates Andrii Kroshko and Elina Kryhan.
