We are honoured to announce that AVELLUM lawyers joined the team of activists from leading international firms Allen & Overy, Morgan Lewis, and Norton Rose Fulbright to establish a scholarship in the name of fallen Ukrainian hero Roman Ratushnyi.
Roman was a young lawyer when he answered his country’s call to arms at the start of his career. He was tragically killed in fighting outside Izium on 9 June 2022. In his short career, Roman took on corruption, embraced a range of social causes and was a credit to his chosen profession.
In recognition of Roman’s courage and leadership, an annual scholarship in his name is being established to assist community activists passionate about creating social change and ready to dedicate themselves to social initiatives and the public sector to pursue a legal education.
The first Roman Ratushnyi Scholarship is expected to be enrolled in the new academic year in autumn 2022 for students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Right now, AVELLUM is coordinating parties working on establishing a transparent framework in which the scholarship will be awarded. Legal professionals from home and abroad will fund the scholarship.
