AVELLUM acts as a lead counsel in an extremely complex LCIA arbitration

Our arbitration team acted as a lead counsel in a multiparty LCIA arbitration, representing a major Ukrainian business. The dispute arose out of an extremely complex M&A transaction with the amount in dispute estimated in the region of USD70 million. The dispute involved complex issues of English, Ukrainian and Cypriot laws.

Our team won a substantial security for costs application in favour of our client early in the arbitration proceedings. We also assisted the client with two parallel injunctive proceedings initiated by the opponents before courts in two jurisdictions, leading to set aside of an ex parte injunction in a matter of months.

Following the exchange of extensive written submissions the dispute was settled by the parties on conditions favourable to our client.

AVELLUM’s team was led by senior partner Kostiantyn Likarchuk with significant support from counsel Oleksii Maslov, managing associate Roman Syniuta and associates Illia Ivanusa, Kristina Mysenko and Tetiana Zavalko.
